This semester the Year 6s and 7s will be looking at the the topic 'Let's travel to Japan' (日本にいこう!) In this topic we will 'visiting' some well known landmarks in Japan, such as Kyoto's Kinkakuji (The Golden Pavilion), Osaka-jou (Osaka Castle), Toushouguu Jinja (Toshougu Shrine), Aso-zan (Mount Aso), Hiroshima Genbaku Domu (Hiroshima Peace Memorial), Tokyo Tower, Sapporo's Yuki Matsuri (Snow Festival), Sendai's Tanabata Matsuri (Star Festival), Nara's Toudaiji Temple and the Great Buddha. We will also be learning language associated with transport and verbs expressing the desires of 'I want to go, see, eat, do...'
The Year 6s will participating in a special incursion on manga drawing on the 29 August 2013 by the Japanese artist Nami さん. We look forward to seeing some of the creative work of our students at WPS. Click here to see some of Nami's work - namisartroom.com.au
